Amateur Matt Vogt tried to find the silver lining after his Oakmont dream turned into a nightmare in Thursday's opening round at the US Open.

Vogt, who is a dentist by trade, has provided one of the tournament's great stories after earning a place at the major when he swapped the drill for the driver to make it through qualification last week.
